Today We Have Sunshine!

Rainy and foggy days offer good conditions in which to capture moody scenes and images with subtle, diffused lighting. But my favorite lighting is sunshine. It fosters moods of another kind, lighting with contrast and definition, and of course one of the things that I like the most; brilliant color - as seen in this photo "Pacifica Cove at Sunset." State Capitol Collection

I was honored this week by being selected by California State Senator Ted Gaines for inclusion in the Senate's ninth annual California Contemporary Art Collection exhibit. My photograph of Lake Tahoe, entitled "Homewood South View, Lake Tahoe," will be representing Senator Gaines' 1st Senate district in the exhibit. The Senate initiated this program in 1997 to recognize contemporary California Art and will be on display at the California State Capitol in Sacramento until September, 2012. Spring at Twelve Bridges

Grass grows fast after the rains in spring. Wildflowers pop up, sunsets are clear and dramatic, color is intense, and everything looks and smells fresh. Twelve Bridges, at the base of the Sierra Foothills, has some beautiful rolling hills and old oak trees. Silhouettes at sunset can be spectacular. In this shot, I used an HDR process to get the grass and wildflowers to display as they actually did when I took the picture. Contact me for more information about my HDR process. Spring in the Eastern Sierra

"Eastern Sierra in Spring" Looking across the Owens Valley to the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada, The spring season reveals a range of textures, colors, and sizes. Tiny leaves and thorns on desert sage, soft brilliant pink flowers, expansive fields of green grass at the base of towering peaks all speak of the magic of Nature in spring. Spring in the Sierra Foothills

Rich, velvet blankets of green grass follow the rains of Winter and Spring. In the Lincoln/Newcastle area of the Sierra Foothills, the meadows, glens, and hills are punctuated with Valley Oaks and lichen covered granite boulders. See more inspiring scenes of Spring on my website: OutdoorScenics.com.
